Abstract. The publication touches upon the history and modern development of Azerbaijani carpet art, recognized by UNESCO as part of the world cultural heritage. Special attention is paid to the activities of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, its unique exposition, and projects to preserve and popularize traditions. It also reflects the influence of ancient ornaments on modern art and the work of contemporary artists combining tradition and innovation.
The author pays special attention both to the history of the museum and to the richness and diversity, as well as the deep symbolism, of the patterns of traditional Azerbaijani carpets, where each element carries its own unique message, reflecting the culture, history, and worldview of the people.
The study demonstrates how the Art of traditional Azerbaijani carpet-weaving can serve as a foundation and a source of inspiration for contemporary craftsmen and artists, who reinterpret and adapt the people’s historical and cultural heritage through new forms of decorative and applied arts and jewelry design.
